Our Profile
DELES is the acronym for Development, Education, and Leadership Services and it is a programme designed for total integral human development through a thorough and continuous process of development, education, leadership training and formation. The DELES integral human development is about transformation of self and society. Training for transformation is an experiential process.
DELES training programme is in two parts - the phased training and the specialized training. The phased training consists of a Four one-week workshop spread over 2 years in four phases (Each phase lasts for one week) with a six months interval (between each phase) for practical operational experiences during which the skills and knowledge acquired are expected to be put into use. The projects embarked upon must have a direct impact on the people and the community as a whole.
Each phase is a five to six days intensive and experiential workshop with a specific focus and a set of objectives to be achieved, yet there is a flow and over-lapping of ideas in the inter-disciplinary nature of the approach used. Even though each phase has its own focus, the next phase builds on the former phase’s experience because the training programme is rooted in the principle of action - reflection - action - reflection praxis/cycle which tries to meet the expectations of all the participants.
The second type of training is the specialized training usually on request by groups, organizations or individuals to meet some of their specific needs, aspiration and convenience of the target group. The training may also, be much shorter in duration and could be carried out at weekends.
As an experiential process, themes and issues are looked at from the experience of the group. The process follows a sequence of stages and problem - posing materials are used as often as possible to initiate a session. Individuals are asked to reflect on their own experience of the issue. Then in small groups, people share and discuss their experience and look at common factors and differences.
Finally, in a large session, the process is brought to a conclusion, either through reports back from the small groups or a discussion, and when appropriate a short relevant input would follow.
As DELES Facilitators, we commit ourselves to provide a friendly affirming 'climate' in the group/community so that even the shyest person will gain sufficient self-confidence to contribute his/her experience and insight to the common search for solutions to the enormous problems or issues we face.
